No Nonsense Lip Color

What if I told you that there is a smudge proof, kiss proof, long lasting super power lipstick out there? Would you want to try it?

Yes I’m talking about Lipsense by Senegence. I have to admit I was a pretty big skeptic. Of course I’d seen the videos plastered all over my social media accounts and I followed an old friend who is a distributor, casually browsing her albums of all the pretty things. But I hadn’t quite bought in yet.

I jumped at the chance to try it out though and I’m SO glad I did. It took a bit of trial and error to get it right but once I did I was impressed.

First things first:

WAIT to use LipSense if your lips are super chapped or have any kind of cuts or cracks because it will burn like the worst paper cut EVER.

Moving on…

Color: I used Pink Champagne. The first time I used it I hadn’t read the directions so I just layered the crap out of it until it was a color I liked.

Side not: DON’T LET YOUR LIPS TOUCH WHILE STILL APPLYING THE COLOR!! You have to get your color on, let it dry and thennn apply a gloss that goes on top. I hadn’t realized how serious this was and I accidentally let my lips touch a bit and they kind of stuck together a little which created a little weird spot on my lip.

The second time I followed the directions and did three layers only, which brings me to the next point (and probably the main reason why you guys are even reading this post…)

Longevity:

First Attempt: (When I layered and layered and layered…) Literally lasted all day long but by the end of the day color was clumping off just a teensy bit.

Second Attempt: (When I followed the rules & did 3 layers) Lasted through my coffee and breakfast but by the time I was getting home (Around 6 hours later) the color was still visible but definitely thinner than when I had left.

Third Attempt: (More than 3 layers but not quite as much as the first time, probably about 5 or 6) I did my makeup for a night out with the hubby. We went to dinner where I had a very mature meal of chicken tenders and fries. My color was not at all affected by my meal and did not transfer onto my drinking glass either. After that we went to see a play where I had a few glasses of champagne, again no transfer of my lipstick whatsoever. By this point I’m pretty tipsy (I don't get out much these days haha!) and not really paying attention to taking care of the color like I normally would. At intermission I had more champagne (good Lord, please don’t judge) AND pretzels AND chocolate. To be completely honest I wasn’t really paying attention to my lips anymore but when I got home I was pleasantly surprised. Guys, the color was still freakin’ there!!

Not only was it still there but then I had to use two rounds of the Oops! Remover to get the remaining color off my lips. I immediately put lip balm on after removal and did not have any dryness issues, at least not anymore than I normally do.

I used the Glossy Gloss, but they also offer a variety of other glosses including a Matte Gloss if that’s more your thing.

I also discovered with some digging into the product that SeneGence is cruelty free and animal by-product free so that’s pretty awesome. ANNND they have other beauty products as well. Including a skincare line and other makeup products. Personally I'm hoping to try out some ShadowSense soon, maybe a little Rose Gold Shimmer (can you say heart eyes?).

Amanda, the founder of Almost Forever Beauty has her own story and inspiring Before & Afters with her personal use of the SeneGence Skincare line.

Overall I would definitely say that LipSense does what it promises. My color lasted pretty freakin well through lots of contact and over several hours. I’m sure it would have lasted even longer had I reapplied the gloss at some point. If you’re interested check out Amanda’s page Almost Forever Beauty by clicking here. She is amaze and covers your shipping as well as the taxes for your first purchase, and she can answer any questions you may have about Lipsense or any of the other awesome beauty products she has available.
